Our organisation is called Martinez Valls School and it was created in 1987. It is a kindergarden and Primary school (students are between 2 to 12 years old) and we cover the compulsory curriculum settled by the Spanish Government and Valencian Community region. We have 420 students and 30 teachers.
The school is in Ontinyent, a town of 35000 inhabitants, located in Albaida’s Valley surrounded by mountains, there is an important river called Clariano. It is in the East of Spain.
Languages are a key subject in our school. Because of that, we have a linguistic project in three languages which are Spanish, Valencian and English as a foreign language. Since 2017 we are immersed in the European Language Portfolio based on the European Framework of Languages.
Our methodology is based on cooperative work, tasks based learning, promotion of the creativity, active learning and Pedagogy based on Montessori, Waldorf, Pickler, manipulative Maths, sponsorship reading students and inclusive projects.
Besides we are doing an innovation pedagogical project in order to improve the outdoors facilities of the school traditionally called playground area. The purpose is to reforest these surfaces planting more trees, bushes, herbal plants, grass, etc. The final goal is transforming these areas in learning ones including a climbing wall, balance games with big rocks, ropes, wooden sticks, Tibetan bridge, wooden huts,
Every year we prepare and organize extracurricular activities suitable for everybody. For example: playing Chess tournaments, reading club, Theatre Festival, school radio or the development of skills to solve conflicts among fellow students such as mediation.
